Call for Entries for TIFFCOM2013 CoPro Connection

 

CoPro Connection is an occasion for live action and animation filmmakers both in Japan and overseas to come together in their goal of working on an international co-production project.
This year will see an increased emphasis on networking.
In collaboration with the Ateliers du cinema europeen (ACE) , an association of European producers, and the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) , we will host assorted events such as pitching, seminars relating to international co-productions, networking events, as well as individual meetings. 

*Overseas Producers’ projects only. Call for entries for Japanese projects will open in June.

Date: October 22 to 24, 2013
Venue: TIFFCOM, Grand Pacific Le Daiba (2-6-1, Daiba, Minato-ku, Tokyo, 135-8701, Japan)

・CoPro Connection will get you in direct contact with everything you need to know about co-production with Japan!
・Leading Japanese film companies e.g., TOEI, SHOCHIKU, NIKKATSU, and KADOKAWA will evaluate and take part in meetings.
・Projects selected will receive complimentary accommodation and round-trip flight (One person/ 4 nights/ economy class)
・The meetings will be held in English.

[APPLICATION DETAIL]
Selection Criteria:
・Feature length live action or animation feature project that have strong potential of co-production with Japan.
・Project of multiple countries are eligible as long as Japan is involved. 
・Project with some finance in place will be chosen preferentially.
・Project with clear business/distribution strategy will be chosen preferentially. 
・Participation of the producer is requested.

Conditions for Submission:
・Participant must be available to attend events and business meetings programmed during the event.
・The producers agrees to include TIFFCOM CoPro Connection logo in the credit roll when the film is completed. 

Standard of Selection:
Participating Projects will be selected by third party selection committee consisting of industry professionals.

Introduction

Sichuan TV Festival (SCTVF) is hosted by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) and Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, organized by Sichuan Radio, Film and Television Bureau and Sichuan Radio and Television. Established in 1991, the biennial festival has successfully been held for 11 sessions. In more than 20 years, Sichuan TV Festival promoted itself in the structure, scale, branding and social influence. The fast-growing event has developed itself into one of China’s grandest and most influential TV galas. It not only witnessed TV media’s great reform and development in China, but also made important contribution to the communication, cooperation and development of the TV industry between China and the world. As the main event of Sichuan TV Festival, while enhancing its reputation and influence both at home and abroad, International “Gold Panda” Awards for Animation encourages China’s original animation production and promotes communication between Chinese and overseas animation. The entries’ number, quality and category as well as the number of entrant territories increase year by year, gradually developing itself into a reputed international animation awards of influence, authority and credibility.

Entry Categories
  1. Animated Feature Film: Animated films for theatrical screenings.
  2. Animated Short Film: A short film that is animated within 30 minutes, telling a full story.
  3. Animated TV Series: Television series programs produced by the means of animation. Entrants of this category are required to submit 3 episodes, including the first, one of the middle and the last episodes of the series.
  4. Technology Demonstration Animation: Short movie produced for the purpose of demonstrating the animation technology, including promotional animation for a game, animated advertisement, architectural animation, etc.

Promotional Activities

  1. Excellent entries will be preferentially recommended by the organizing committee to both domestic and overseas organizations for acquisition.
  2. Winners will be invited to attend the International “Gold Panda” Awards Ceremony.
  3. Selected entries will be screened in the International TV Program Market of 2013 SCTVF which is open to professionals, filmmakers and buyers.
  4. Selected entries will be promoted free-of-charge in the catalogue of the International “Gold Panda” Awards for Animation of 2013 SCTVF.
  5. Entries will be promoted on the website of the Sichuan TV Festival and websites appointed by SCTVF, which will be visited by professionals and international buyers.
  6. Entrants will enjoy discounts in market and exhibition registration of 2013 SCTVF.
  7. The Organizing Committee will recommend excellent programs to other related international award festivals.
  8. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to use a clip from each production, free-of-charge for promotional purposes either online or on television.

Rules

General items: 

  1. All entries are exempted from entry fees.
  2. The competition is open to all domestic and overseas production companies and individuals. 

Requirements  

  1. Entries should comply with the laws and regulations of The People’s Republic of China and should avoid material of an erotic, violent or sanguine nature.
  2. Entries can be submitted only by organizations or individuals that own the copyrights. The entrant is held responsible for any relative legal disputes.
  3. Entries are not required to have been broadcast or distributed, but must have been completed between August 1st 2011 and July 31st 2013.
  4. Entries are not allowed to contain any advertisements. 

Entry materials 

  1. Entry Deadline: 31st July 2013. All entries, including DVDs and related materials must be submitted to the International “Gold Panda” Awards for Animation Office before 20th August 2013.
  2. No limit is placed on the number of entries provided by a single company or an individual, but each entry requires a separate entry form.
  3. Entry must be submitted on PAL DVD which can be directly screened on a DVD player.
  4. Entry should be submitted along with a synopsis via email.
  5. Entry should be submitted with three different JPG, GIF or TIFF images (800×600pixels).
  6. A trailer not less than 30 seconds is required for promotion.

Delivery of materials  

  1. The entrant is responsible for the safe shipment, insurance and shipping cost of entries. The Organizing Committee will take every reasonable precaution in handling entries, but will not be held responsible for any loss, damage or non-receipt of entries however so caused.
  2. DVD(s) will not be returned, but retained in the reference database of the International "Gold Panda" Awards. The reference database does not serve any commercial purpose.

Reward
  1. Nominated entries and entries selected for the second round of judging will receive a certificate from the organizing committee.
  2. Winners will receive both a certificate and a statuette from the organizing committee

Rights Clearance
  1. Participation in the International “Gold Panda” Awards for Animation implies full acceptance of the Rules of this competition.
  2. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to decide the eligibility and category of each entry.
  3. All decisions the Jury make are final. The Jury may select more than one winner for a given award or leave an award vacant.
  4. The Organizing Committee is fully responsible for the compilation and clarification of the Rules.

Call for Entries for SPP 2013 Project Competition

Global Creative and Media Agency (GCMA), in association with the 12th global cartoon and animation market, SPP (Seoul Promotion Plan) which will be held from July 23 – 25, 2013 in Seoul, Korea, are looking for new animation projects for its “SPP 2013 Project Competition".

We seek to promote the merits of the market and find promising and commercially viable projects. We welcome candidates that have animation projects being planned or produced from all over the world.

The winners of SPP 2012 Project Competition:

  • ‘Origanimals’ by Giggle Garage (Malaysia) – “ Best Planning Award 2012”
